Some testimonials from our customers

Here is an extract from the reviews left by our customers on the site or on the platforms.

Pierre and Marja were adorable. We really enjoyed our stay in Halosenranta, especially when we found our Christmas tree in the forest! Both hosts were very easy to contact and assured us we had everything we needed. What a nice place. (Australia)

Heli

What an amazing accommodation, it was totally perfect for our family of 6 children.

The house felt like home and the children loved the gymnasium where the boys slept. The rooms were spacious and comfortable.

The kitchen was after a trip to the supermarket. The grounds were huge and so beautiful. The outdoor sauna and kota were really fun.

As for Marja and Pierre, they are the most incredible and loving wonderful people. They were so kind and helpful. They helped with husky and reindeer walks and car rentals and trains/buses. Real human angels who made our vacation even more special. I will always love cooking sausages with Pierre over a wood fire. They cooked us a delicious meal for New Year's Eve and welcomed us like family. Thank you so much. You touched our hearts xx. (London)

Hannah

Marja and Pierre have a very special place! We loved our stay over Christmas and Marja and Pierre did everything to ensure we had a fabulous stay. Santa, Christmas feast, sauna, sausages and fire, Lego for the kids, answering countless questions before we arrived and once there. Nothing was too much trouble. The house was large, clean and warm. A lot of space. Close to town but remote so you need to travel for Huskies, skiing, etc. (1 to 1.5 hours).

We highly recommend, we much prefer this experience to busy, touristy, commercial areas. Thank you!

Amber

This place is a gem! A wonderful place to relax in Lapland. The old school is a unique and very Finnish experience. The space is clean, well equipped and large in size. Our children loved staying in the old gymnasium, ideal for playing and sleeping. We were able to create our own cross-country ski trail around the yard and woods. Very special historic sauna. Drive to Pyhä for those wanting a ski day trip.

Abbie

We had a wonderful New Year's week nestled in this beautiful house on the outskirts of the town of Kemijärvi. Everything about the house was perfect and our hosts made us feel right at home. The ambiance, the hospitality, an excellent tour guide not to mention the chef's talented cuisine. The location of the house was ideal, quiet but only a short drive to ski resorts/national parks etc. We highly recommend and will certainly come back again.

Sari

We stayed with 2 families of 9 in total including 5 children from 4 to 8 years old.Dad and Maria picked us up at the station and went to Santa's village as we wanted.

I arrived at the accommodation and received a daily welcome with traditional handmade Lapland dishes. There are free children for free. It was Christmas, and we had a valuable experience to take a tree in the woods and decorate it with a real tree that we brought home. We went into the sauna and made sausages and marshmallows while everyone was surrounded by firewood. Unfortunately we didn't We couldn't see the northern lights at the time of our stay, but they showed us the northern lights videos from the room. I felt a lot of love and love for nature, beautiful rooms and hospitality of you two, and I had a great time. When they returned to Helsinki, they wanted to go back to Pape. It became a lifelong memory. I really want to see Pape and Maria again one day.

Naomi

We had a great time spending this New Year's holiday at Pierre's.

Pepé contacted us all day during our long journey from Russia to Lapland. When we arrived, he welcomed us with a delicious mushroom soup.

Every day he surprised us with another delicious food, homemade bread, salmon, etc. Our noisy kids were super happy when Pier offered to drive his snowmobile!

Amazing atmosphere, great people and unforgettable vacation. Thank you so much ! ! !

Alexey

You will find Pierre (Pope) and Maria the most welcoming hosts kind and most welcoming. They do more than you would expect to make you feel comfortable and at home and are especially kind to young bones.

Martin

very nice, provided delicious dinner and sauna, very warm and friendly

Pierre's house (converted from the school) is huge and clean. All the rooms are superb with comfortable beds. Completed house with sufficient toilets and bathrooms. Pierre helped us book some activities like huskies sledding, ice fishing, snowmobiles with a reasonable price. We also rented snowshoes and walked behind the forest. Of course we tried the best sauna right outside the house. Pierre is also a good cook. We highly recommend Maison Pierre to everyone. Pierre's house is located in Kemijärvi, about 85 km from Rovaniemi. We took an intercity train from Helsinki to Kemijärvi, Pierre organized the pickup at Kemijärvi station. Train station just a few km from his house.

Chee Ken

One word to describe the host: awesome. Pierre was always helpful, from arrival, during the stay and until the last minutes of departure. He helped us with advice on where to go and what to do and provided us with everything we needed. I had good dining experiences and good sauna and kota experiences. It was a good stay for families with young children, no problem with the noise they make and the mess. Pierre and his wife made our 5 day stay most enjoyable and it was one of the best Airbnb experiences I have had so far. We had our own transportation, the place is a bit far from the city center, but that's what makes the place quiet and peaceful. Great for single tourists to complete families, you will feel the good atmosphere and support from the host.

And

It's a very good stay. Papa Louise is very nice. The house is far from the city center, but it is a much more traditional Finnish environment and Pape Louise is always ready to provide transportation. I would say this is the best Airbnb experience I've had.

Lily

Papé and Maria are excellent hosts. They not only open the doors of their house, but also their lives, their experiences... They make you feel at home and are very attentive to everything you might need. A wonderful experience. Everything: big and small (4 adults and 3 children) we felt very good at Pierre's place. We stayed 3 nights and it was an excellent cultural meeting and exchange. We recommend 100%. We repeat it with our eyes closed.

Francisca

Louis is a generous man who has a passion for serving all its travelers! He showed us lots of amazing places and also made fantastic home cooked meals! We used the cottage in the courtyard to barbecue on our own, and at no extra cost. To be honest, this place is lovely and quiet. Many beautiful memories stayed there!

My friends and I spent almost a week in Kemijärvi in this cozy old school, converted into an apartment. The place itself was satisfactory and our host, Papé, tried to do everything for us. He suggested several interesting programs, and he was lucky enough to offer discounted prices for some activities. Also, he came snowshoeing with us around the house and showed a nice place to hike. In the evening we had the chance to feel how real the wooden sauna is, and after that we made makkara around the fireplace. Last night he prepared typical Finnish food for us, which contained for example reindeer, salmon. Overall, we were happy with the accommodation and service Papé provided us!

Daniel

My friends and I really enjoyed our 3 night stay in Kemijarvi. The house is clean and comfortable. Thanks to Papé, Païve and Marja, they are the most friendly, welcoming and helpful hosts ever. They find all kinds of ways to make our stay comfortable. They are always ready to help whenever we need it. Plus, they're also very interesting people. We had a great stay, listening to their stories and laughing, like family. On the last day they prepared traditional Finnish dishes for us: reindeer meat, smoked salmon and lemon meringue. The dishes were delicious and we had a great night there.

Papé is also a very professional and passionate tourist guide. He gave us suggestions and advice on activities to do. He also drove us to do activities like snowmobiling, dog sledding, reindeer feeding, etc. We don't need to worry much about the itinerary because he has plans for us.

Jan Va

I must say that I had an unforgettable vacation with my friends here because I met two angels - the owner, Mr. Pierre, and his wife. They treated us with care and prepared delicious local food for us, I still remember the taste of reindeer and cupcakes until now. I think Pierre is not only an owner to us, but also a professional guide and a lovely friend. He led us to visit the whole town of Kemijarvi and Santa village; we were all shocked by the splendid snowy landscape. His wife is a lovely lady who loves artists and she prepared a wooden sauna and mulled red wine for us, which is an enthusiastic experience. Certainly, the spacious, warm and exquisite house cannot be ignored. There is a tent in front of the house where we had dinner together. To sum up, it's an amazing place. If you go there, you will get a fantastic souvenir. If you have free time, we will come back, thank you Pierre and Maiya~ we miss you.

白玉

Excellent welcome, very friendly host. Extremely pleasant setting, both practical because it is only an hour from Rovaniemi, and exotic because of the location of the house in the heart of Finnish Lapland. An experience highly recommended by the ten travelers who were received.

Timothée

Charmed by this place by our hosts as well as the actors of the tourism (the husky breeder, a strong guy, and this Sami farmer who breeds reins) all welcomed us with kindness. A true shaman who could have done better but the essential was there. Meal with our host Pierre - Louis, Maria, Sirka was very friendly and a superb atmosphere then wood-fired sauna or perfect electric sauna. A big thank you to Pierre, Maria for, among other things, this bath in the frozen lake and to Sirka for his pastries that delighted young and old alike.

Christian

Group trip, wonderful stay, welcomed by our host who gave us a great program that knew how to adapt. an outstanding cook... a big thank you to Pierre and big kisses to Sirca. The Swiss Sweet team

Stéphanie

This year, our friends and we decided to celebrate the New Year in Lapland. We were very lucky to spend 4 unforgettable days in Louis-Pierr's house. From the first moment, this house felt like home to us.

The house is large and at the same time full of warmth and comfort. Our group of 8 people was comfortably located there. The house is very clean, has everything you need. Magnificent interior, there are many interesting and authentic objects.

Very peaceful place with beautiful nature around.

The location is excellent. 10 minutes from the town of Kemijarvi by car, 40 minutes from the village of Santa Clause, 1 hour from Rovaniemi, 1 hour from Puha resort (skiing, snowboarding, snowmobiles).

The owner of the house Louis - Pierr is a very welcoming, cheerful and interesting person. He is easy to reach and always willing to help. It is a pleasure to communicate with him. Louis-Pierr is also a wonderful cook. On the day we arrived, he prepared a delicious mushroom soup for us, and on the day we left, an excellent chocolate dessert. We all decided it was a fabulous winter vacation. We hope to return to this accommodation.

Merci Louis - Pierr!
